Hi! My name is Madelaine Castleman and I attend UNC Chapel Hill as a member of the class of 2025. I am a biology and medical anthropology double major and I am minoring in chemistry. I am incredibly passionate about all things Dentistry and Medicine and plan on pursuing this avenue as I continue my education. I founded Triangle Smiles with the purpose of truly restoring self-esteem and confidence. I love Orthodontics and firmly believe a smile is worth a 1,000 words. I know from personal experience how a smile can impact one's self confidence. Furthermore, Triangle Smiles' initiatives extend beyond just providing our patients with braces; we want to foster outreach and awareness concerning oral health and increase access to quality care. I am honored to be leading a highly devoted group of individuals as we continue to foster community awareness surrounding healthcare equity and kindness.

Hi! My name is Riya Vasa and I am a part of the Class of 2024 at UNC Chapel Hill! I am a Public Health and Nutrition, Science, and Research major with a Business Administration and Chemistry minor on the pre-dental track. I am an officer of DDS, the UNC-affiliated dental fraternity here on campus. As someone who is incredibly passionate about Dentistry, as well as aiding the underserved, I am extremely excited to be combining my two passions with Triangle Smiles in order to foster change. Access to dental care is not a privilege but a right of all individuals and I firmly believe that everyone should have the right to a beautiful smile! As a team, we will be able to expand our outreach and awareness concerning oral health and ultimately increase access to quality oral healthcare all across North Carolina. I am honored to be a part of such a highly devoted, like-minded team with a variety of educational and cultural backgrounds, and believe that together, we will make a significant impact on the Carolinas

In my free time, I love baking, skiing, and dancing. I believe in the differences service can make in people’s lives. I am one of the student OPS leads in Carolina Covid Student Service Corps. Having volunteered in multiple events in the triangle area like blankets and meals making for Ronald McDonald House and the Random Act of Kindness project, I am very excited to become the patient coordinator of Triangle Smiles and contribute more! Orthodontists are extremely important, and I personally have benefitted from having braces, so I can’t wait to bring more smiles to our community by doing the same for our patients!

Hello! My name is Julia Al-Awak. I am a student at Millbrook High School. I am involved in various things in my school such as Freshman Class Council, Key Club, and Psychology Club. I am also involved in many volunteering services that help other people, as I am very passionate about helping others. In my free time, I love to read and write. I am beyond excited to be a part of Triangle Smiles. As a person who had crooked teeth and was fortunate enough to receive treatment, I know how much your smile can impact you and your self-image. I believe that everyone should be able to receive treatment. Triangle smiles will have a wonderful impact on our community by giving people the smile and confidence that they have always wanted and deserve and I am very happy to be a part of that process as Assistant Orthodontic Recruiter.

My name is Daniel Longrie and I am a an engineering student at North Carolina State University. I enjoy giving back to my community through volunteer work ranging from helping coach my neighborhood swim team to spending time with the Miracle League. While I am currently inexperienced with nonprofits, I am excited to learn the ropes and committed to contributing in every way I can. Orthodontists provide a truly magnificent service to the world and it is a shame that so many people can not afford it. As a team member, I plan to aid Triangle Smiles in connecting these individuals to orthodontists who can help them, and I cannot wait to see all the good we can do.
